Sobbing uncontrollably, I found myself swept up in the story's tragic grandeur.

Of course, Les Misérables isn't just about the music - its themes of love, loss, and redemption are timeless and universal. But let's be real: the soundtrack is what truly sets it apart. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA might have brought us Chess, but Claude-Michel Schönberg and Herbert Kretzmer brought us Les Misérables - a true masterpiece of musical theatre.

As I left the cinema that night, still wiping away tears, I couldn't help but feel grateful for my friend's intervention. Sometimes, it takes a little nudge to discover something new and wonderful. And now, I'm hooked on Les Misérables - who knows when I'll find myself sobbing uncontrollably through 'Do You Hear the People Sing?' again?
